School of the mid-19th century. "Coat of arms of the Marquis - Lot 86
School of the mid-19th century. "Coat of arms of the Marquis of Aoust", gouache on paper, oval view (31 x 24 cm.)
The family coat of arms depicting three sheaves of wheat is surmounted by a marquisal crown, framed by two lions. Under the coat of arms appears a legion of honour and the motto "Fructus Laborum" in a phylactery. In 1626 the government of the Spanish Netherlands gave the right of justice of the lordship of Sin-le-Noble to Michel d'Aoust, also lord of Jumelles and provost of Cambrai. At the beginning of the 18th century, the land of Sin-le-Noble is erected as a marquisate.
