Plate in translucent molded glass decorated with the profile of Georges Despret, director of the glass factory of Boussois, signed and titled. Years 1930 (13 x 8 cm); we join an empty box marked "Cinquentenaire de la Direction de Monsieur Georges Despret". Since the 16th century the Despret family has been producing glass in the Maubeuge region (bottles, polished glass, special glass, etc.). Georges Despret took over the management of Glaces de Boussois around 1884. In parallel of his industrial activity he launches out in the realization of an artistic production of glass pastes following the example of Henry Cros or Albert Dammouse. To develop this production he worked in collaboration with artists such as Alexandre Charpentier, Pierre Lefaguais or the sculptor Yvonne Serruys-Mille. Some of his glass pastes were presented at the Universal Exhibition of 1900.
